Goal of treatment: to replace the large loss in the upper left corner of the drawing
This painting is owned by a private client. The priority of this treatment was to fill the large corner loss while
preserving the integrity of the work and maintaining a distinction between the artist's and conservator’s hands. To
achieve this, I created an inpainted fill with its own kozo paper hinge, so that it could be mounted next to the drawing
using T- or V-hinges. This work was done under the supervision of paper conservator Ewa Paul.
Create a fill using a board comparable to the original support, and shave the edge flush with the tear shelf.
Inpaint the fill, reconstructing the missing design
Apply Japanese hinges to the verso of the artwork so the fill can be reversibly mounted next to the object.
